Philosophy:
Residential care: Residents live in Salem Woods apartments, cottages or the main building and enjoy the amenities and services of the campus. Assisted living: Residents live in Salem Woods apartments, cottages or the main building while receiving personal care assistance. Alzheimer's and Dementia Care: The Terrace is Salem's therapeutic assisted living program for residents with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia. Skilled Nursing: The 48-bed Salem Care Center offers 24-hour nursing care to those who require it.
Ever since three Swedish Lutheran congregations chose to build a facility for "aged gentlefolk" early in 1924, Salem has been a place where older adults can enjoy the fullest, most diverse life experiences. Our commitment to offering a positive environment with a full continuum of health and wellness services has never wavered.
More than a hundred first-rate, caring professionals are on hand to assist in whatever way is needed. Each member of our staff is fully committed to providing thoughtful, personalized care and service. We celebrate the individuality of each person. In all we do, we strive for excellence. This is demonstrated in the daily interaction between residents, staff and family members. It is common to see a caregiver stopping to help a resident with a difficult button or zipper, the receptionist helping a resident dial a number, or a waiter taking the time to see how a resident's family is doing. Today, more than ever, the experience of living on the Salem campus feels like family. Salem Lutheran Home is a nonprofit retirement community and an integral part of Elder Care Alliance, which also includes Mercy Retirement & Care Center in Oakland, California, AlmaVia of Camarillo, and AlmaVia of San Francisco, AlmaVia of Union City, and AlmaVia of San Rafael at Faith Center
